What are the available options for parents t o live in Australia permanently?

Parents who wish to live in Australia permanently have to apply for a parent’s visa. Some of the various available options under Australia Parent Visa are as follows:

Parent (Permanent) Visa (Subclass 103)

Contributory Parent (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 143)

Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 173)
Australia Parent Visa (Subclass 103)
This visa authorizes parents to
live in Australia on condition that their child is a citizen of Australia, permanent resident or a qualified citizen of New Zealand settled in Australia.
The wait time for the approval of this visa can even be up to 13 years.
Parents applying for Australia Parents Visa (Subclass 103) have to fulfill the following Requirements:

Have to be sponsored

Satisfy the test of balance-of-family

Have to be prepared to wait in a queue prior to the decision of visa
According to update from DIBP, with effect from 02 June 2014 the government has stopped accepting visa applications under this category.
Australia Parent visa (subclass 143)
This visa has the same feature as of Australia Parents Visa (Subclass 103) wherein the parents of the child having either the Australia’s citizenship and permanent status or the citizenship of New Zealand with settlement in Australia can reside in Australia permanently.
Australia Parent visa (subclass 143) applicants have to satisfy the below requirements:

Have to be sponsored

Have to hold a temporary Contributory Parent visa

Fulfill the test of balance-of-family
-
Must be able to pay higher visa application charges for processing them at a faster rate.
Australia parent visa (subclass 173)
This visa authorizes parents to reside in Australia for duration of two years if they are the parents of Australian permanent resident, citizen or entitled citizen of New Zealand settled in Australia.
Willing parents, who wish to apply for Australia parent visa, have to fulfill the following requirements:

Must satisfy balance-of-family test

Must be willing to pay higher amount for charges towards visa application for processing at an accelerate pace
