Update on Visa for Family Immigration

From 25 September 2014, the following visa subclasses in the Family Stream of the Migration Programme are open to new applications:

Parent visa (subclass 103)
Aged Parent visa (subclass 804)
Aged Dependent Relative visa (subclasses 114 and 838)
Remaining Relative visa (subclasses 115 and 835)
Carer visa (subclasses 116 and 836).
Only new applications will be accepted for these visa subclasses.

Applications lodged after 2 June 2014 and before 25 September 2014 are invalid and nullified. New application would only be considered.

Overview

The family members of permanent residents of Australia or the Australian citizens would like to reunite with their family members. These are considered as family members.

  • Partner – married de jure, fiancé, de facto partners
  • Parent – can migrate if the child is an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Child – can be own, adopted child or dependant orphan
  • Other family members – aged relatives depending on permanent resident or citizen of Australia
  • Split family provision – family members declared at the in visa application of Australian citizen  can be given permanent visa under offshore humanitarian program

Migration Options for Australia Family Immigration

  • Remaining relatives visa offshore subclass 115 – for people who have a permanent resident or citizen of Australia related to them as siblings, parents or only distant relative.
  • Aged dependent relative subclass 114 – this visa is for aged persons who depend on permanent resident or citizen of Australia for living. This is permanent resident visa.
  • Career visa offshore subclass 116 – this visa is for person who needs to take care of a permanent resident or citizen of Australia on medical reason.
  • New Zealand citizen family relationship visa subclass 461 – this visa is for non New Zealand citizen to live in Australia. This is for special visa holder.
