Pathway for Claiming 5 Extra Points in Australian Migration

27 Jul 2018

Details

Australia’s skilled migration program is based on the points system. It aims to attract top qualified professionals to meet its skills needs. There are many skilled migration visas which require applicants to score points for qualifying to get permanent skilled migration.

Recently, the government increased the point’s threshold from 60 to 65. As a result, many applicants are looking for alternative methods to increase their chances in the General Skilled Migration.

Some of them can also boost their points by passing a language test of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters. NAATI offers an advanced Language Test which gives 5 points to the applicants for their GSM visa. An Exam determines the ability of an applicant to interpret the conversation, happening between two speakers, who speak different languages.

Good demand

There has been an increase in the number of people who wish to take NAATI’s CCL test to obtain five points in skilled migration test. Everyone is keen to meet the criteria by taking up such examinations. There are presently two options, in which firstly one can score 7 each in the English proficiency test IELTS, or secondly clear the CCL test of NAATI. There is a preference for the second option as it is held at the conversational level compared to the academic background of IELTS.

Moreover, this system aims to benefit people possessing multilingual skills. It helps them to gain five bonus points for their visa applications for the Department of Home Affairs. The general pass rate of the CCL is above 50%.

Career Advice

Moreover, Experts feel that the candidates must not take the CCL test in a casual manner and avoid coming unprepared. Additionally they must not be overconfident but practice and put in some time and sincere effort to succeed.

The recent change in the test is attributed to the high caliber of applicants.  The success rate of test is good but the problem is in registration process for the examination. There is a huge struggle to book sessions as no seats are available until December. NAATI’s Melbourne office says there are not enough manpower and resources for coping up with the increase in the number of applicants. The test is available in Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Perth and Sydney.

As per NAATI website, it will have CCL tests in:

• 13-17 August 2018,
• 22-26 October 2018
• 3-7 December 2018

Conclusion

Finally all test sessions for 2018 will remain full, owing to a big demand.
