What does this visa let me do?

With this visa:

  • You can study in Australia
  • Eligible dependant family members can accompany you to Australia
  • When you have commenced your course of study in Australia, you can work up to 20 hours per week while your course is in session and unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks
  • Your family members can work up to 20 hours per week provided you have commenced your course of study in Australia. If you are doing a postgraduate course, such as a Masters degree, your family members can work unlimited hours once you commence this course
  • Your partner can study in Australia for up to three months



The student visas (temporary Class TU) has 8 subclasses 570—576 based on the main education course. To be eligible for student visa you must be accepted for study in a registered course by Australian education provider registered by Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Course for Overseas Students – CRICOS. The other general requirements are

  • Good character
  • Sound health
  • Acceptable health insurance through Overseas Student Health Cover  (OSHC )
  • No outstanding debt to commonwealth
  • Proper arrangements for stay, support and general welfare, if you are under 18 years
  • You must provide with valid to justify the grant of visa if you are in assessment lever 2 and above and do not hold a student visa.


Validity of the visa

The student visa is valid for the duration of the course of study that you do.  You are allowed multiple entries into Australia during the course.


Criteria to bring family members

You can bring your family members as depends if you are:

  • Eligible for student visa processing
  • Assessment level is  1 or 2
  • If your course is longer than 12 months
  • If you are under 18 years
